I have tried 3 different boxes and each one still does that same thing. Mail will not go through it. The statistics still show nothing. I have read the instructions many times but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Thanks for any input.

Hi Ken,

I try to identify the problem asking a few questions:

- what version/license do you use? internal mail server?
- can you access the web interface after successful installation?
- did you upload a appropriate license for your mail domains?
- did you configure your firewall to send all incoming smtp to your proxmox?
- did you configure your internal mail server to send all outgoing email to your proxmox?
- check the log files / error messages

please see this page for documentation, I will point you also to the deployment guide.

Unable to get email to route to mail gateway

I generated a license file from the website and uploaded to the program.
I can login through the web and go through the complete configuration of the proxmox software.
I uploaded the appropriate license for the juneauexploration.com domain.
I pointed my firewall to route smtp to the ip address of the program.
I tried sending email back through the gateway on port 26 but nothing happened. It still shows 0 statistics on the screen as if mail is not even entering the mail gateway. I tried setting it up on a separate box then wehn that didn't work, I set it up on the main file server setting next to the email server. It seems like I am missing one step.

hi ken,

incoming is working. the problem is outgoing. please correct me if i am wrong.

what kind of internal emailserver do you use? i assume ms exchange 2003.
do you enter the smarthost setting on your exchange server, using port 26? see the adminguide chapter 7.

can you telnet your proxmox from you windows box on the smtp port?
> telnet yourproxmox.tld 26

what kind of error messages do you get on the windows side? any logs on the proxmox side?

Unable to get mail to route through gateway

I am attached to the client site through VPN right now and have remote desktop to the server. When I point the firewall to the ip address of the mail gateway, it still shows no incoming or outgoing mail. Please help.

Installation procedure

Martin,

In section 3.5 of the admin guide it explains how to burn the image to a CD and boot from it to start the installation. I tried that but the machine would not boot to the CD image. I installed VMPlayer, (latest one from the website) downloaded the ProxMox Mail Gateway.zip file and unzipped to a directory. When I opened up the VMPlayer it was looking for a .vmx file so I pointed it to the ProxMox Mail Gateway.vmx file and it started loading Linux. Is this the correct way to install this?

hi ken,
you cannot burn the virtual appliance to a cd. you have to download the iso image for installation.

see this directlink:

Unable to get email to route properly

Sorry guys, I think I have been playing with the demo version all along. There is a company in Kansas City (ice systems) that sells the product and I going to get the client to buy it. When I download the ISO image and burn it to a CD, the PC doesn't boot to it. Do I have to make the CD bootable using the hard drive image files explained in Easy CD Creator?

Thanks for all your help. Sorry for my frustration.
