[SOLVED] Troubleshooting the qemu-guest-agent

I've installed the qemu-guest-agent (qemu-guest-agent-2.12.0-3.el7.x86_64) onto a CentOS-7 guest. But no guest agent is detected by PVE.

How do I troubleshoot qemu-guest-agent?

First you need to look at your VM configuration:
- is the guest option enabled?
-- if it is, did you fully shutdown and start your VM since the time of enabling the option?
-- if its not - enable it, then cold start the VM
- check the agent service in the VM, is it running? are there errors? is there anything in the log?

Many different roads to take depending on the results of the previous steps.
