TRIM Funktion für SSDs

Hallo zusammen,

auf meinem Proxmox habe ich eine SSD für Proxmox selbst als auch eine weitere SSD für die VMs und LXC (LVM-Thin). Mich würde jetzt interessieren ob ich auf Seiten Proxmox noch was bzgl TRIM einrichten muss, um das System optimal für die SSD zu konfigurieren oder kümmert sich Proxmox selbst darum. Version ist die aktuelle 5er.

Hi,

bei den VM und LXC auf LVM-Thin must das OS es unterstützen und du musst discard aktivieren.
Desweiteren solltes du scsi mit virtio bus bei VM nehmen, da sonst discard nicht funktioniert.
Beim rootfs must du noch die mount options setzen

Ubuntu's ab 16.04 nicht mehr notwendig wird automatisch einmal in der Woche per Cron erledigt.

Gilt das auch für wirklich alle SSDs da ich hier mal irgendwas von "Intel SSD" im Manual gelesen hatte. Ich denke mal du meinst den "trimall" Cron?

Richtig, da wird auch fstrim-all genutzt und nun lies mal das Manual dazu: http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/trusty/man8/fstrim-all.8.html

This only runs on Intel and Samsung  SSDs  as  some  SSDs  with  faulty
       firmware  may  encounter  data  loss problems when running fstrim under
       high I/O load (see e. g.  https://launchpad.net/bugs/1259829). You  can
       call  fstrim-all with the --no-model-check option to disable the vendor
       check and run fstrim on all SSD drives.

Also ich würds nicht ausführen wollen und bastel nach deiner Anleitung lieber den manuellen fstrim Befehl in einen Cronjob.

oh ok... naja ich kauf nur Samsung SSD's. Eine Intel hab ich auch aber gut zu wissen.
