Hi guys, I am very new to data structures and to linux, so apologies for any confusing details.
I am running proxmox for several things, but mostly for a jellyfin server for me and my roommates.
I just got a 2 TB ssd for jellyfin, in order to hold lots of footage we record.
I have everything setup and working, except I have about 800 GB I need to transfer to an openmediavault vm disk, because we already have a lot of videos and files saved. How would I go about transfering the data to the vm disk? I can't find anything on how to do this. do I need to transfer it before I add it to the omv VM?
cp doesnt seem to be working for this, as i cant seem to access the disk, with the absolute path from OMV

Hi,

you could use USB passthrough to relay the usb device to the vm directly.
With the drive plugged into the host, in the ProxmoxVE UI, go to your node > Hardware > Add > USB Device.

After that it should show up in your vm and you should be able to mount it and copy the files.

I still seem unable to access the disc even within my vm. for reference im using OpenMediaVault with a mounted disc setup as a nfs and smb share. and from terminal i simply cant access the already existing disc

Huh, that's weird. Works on my machine like a charm.
Anyways, if the drive is detected on your computer, you could always use something like
sshfs, sftp, rsync, etc. to transfer the data over the network. That's probably a fair bit slower, but
shouldn't take longer than a few hours if you are on a local network with the server.

For me it shows in Disk manager but i can't use it!
I'm afraid if i delete it wont work or cause other issues in linux (proxmox)!
