Hi,

NEWBIE ALERT! Sorry for posting what is likely an FAQ. I built Proxmox yesterday and I love it! One of the guests I built is MacOS Sequoia, as widely described online. All was working well until I figured that I should backup the machine before attempting to run an OS update. Direct cloning wasn't allowed, so i followed online instructions and tried to convert it to a template, which seemed to work...the status was OK afterward. Now, of course, the VM is not able to be started, etc. However, when i try to clone it, either linked or full, the attempt fails...in both cases with the same problem....

Linked clone feature is not supported for drive 'ide2' (500)

or

Full clone feature is not supported for drive 'ide2' (500)

Is that drive type not a thing that can be cloned? How do I even begin to restore my working VM? It was a few hours work to build it in the first place, and I'd rather not do it again.

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks for replying so fast!

de2 is an attached iso of the opencore drivers. I wonder if I detach it, if it might work, but I don't know how to do that.

I would just detach/remove the ISOs

Blockbridge : Ultra low latency all-NVME shared storage for Proxmox - https://www.blockbridge.com/proxmox

Again, thanks for helping!

I detached both the iso files, and was then able to make both linked and full clones, but neither will boot. So I then tried to re-attach the isos to the cloned machines, but still no boot. This is what I now see before it tries to PXE boot.....1742694902272.png

Thanks for trying. I may just have to recreate the machine, and delete the wreckage. But I'm not discouraged at all! Between Proxmox and Rustdesk, this week has been an excellent period of learning!
