timezone configuration for templates

The OpenVZ templates I've used have come with various timezones configured and I'm getting better about remembering to reconfigure the TZ link to /etc/localtime when I use them. I'm about to create a couple of template appliances and am wondering if there's a more elegant way to do this, so that the user gets either a preconfigured TZ from the host system or some kind of prompt/variable at CT creation?

It would be very useful to have a way to default the CT timezone to the host timezone.
