Three Weeks and No Updates

I usually hit up my ""homelab"" (barely counts as one...) with updates once a week. This is the third week in a row where my PVE system has had no updates, even if I manually refresh the repos. They're hitting the repos fine, but there's no updates.

Just feels weird, did I miss a memo? I know PVE 9.1 is out and it's on my to-do list but it's not a priority unless there's an issue with my system.

Currently running PVE 8.4.14

As far as I can see, that's OK.
E.g. at my PVE 8.4.14 the latest files in /var/cache/apt/archives/ have modification date Oct 23.

At https://www.debian.org/security/ you can see recent Debian security advisories. There are some newer there, but mainly GUI stuff, so not for PVE. Besides, most likely most of the new ones are for Debian 13, not 12.

So, no worries.

PVE 8 is superseded by PVE 9 and will not receive fixes or improvements, except for the ones quoted below:
Q: How long will Proxmox VE 8.4 receive bug fixes and security support?
A: Proxmox VE 8.4 will receive security updates and critical bug fixes until August 2026. This support window provides an overlap of approximately one year after the release of Proxmox VE 9.0, giving users ample time to plan their upgrade to the new major version.
For more information on the support lifecycle of Proxmox VE releases, please visit:

@Onslow thanks!

@leesteken I understand the PVE part being in "maintenance" but it's still based on Debian. This is just ignorance on my part as I don't use Debian much. I would have assumed Debian 12 is still getting regular kernel/GNU/etc updates. Has it already entered a kind of "maintenance" mode?

Again, no updates at all last three weeks.

Debian 12 has been superseded by Debian 13 and Debian also doesn't do updates to older versions: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianReleases . This is the main reason for PVE 8 going EOL in August: Debian 12 is going EOL in August 2026.
