I have a 3 node HA proxmox cluster, I can migrate VM's from node to node no problem but I want to test how it will behave in an actual failure. Is there any way to test this? I was thinking of simulating a kernel panic or just simply shutting down one of the nodes. I tried rebooting one but forgot it just puts the VM in freeze state, will it also just "freeze" the VM during a normal shutdown?

You can simply unplug it's network cables (or set the switch-port they're connected to to 'shut') - that should trigger a fence

hope this helps!
