Hello Team,

I'm experiencing difficulties with the Quantum Scalar i3 library and IBM ULTRIUM-HH8 SCSI tape drive when attempting to perform a simple task such as unloading the tape after it has been loaded. This function works without issues in the Tape GUI or Veeam.

TASK ERROR: unload drive failed - scsi command failed: transport error

[Thu Mar 7 09:14:30 2024] ch 1:0:0:1: attempting task abort!scmd(0x00000000fa387447), outstanding for 304760 ms & timeout 300000 ms

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

mhmm transport error normally means a problem with the connection to the drive/hba/tape etc.

from which action was the task error? can you post the complete task log?

does it work with
Code:
pmtx unload
?

It seems there was an issue with my Quantum tape device. Simply allowing unloading in its settings was insufficient, and the unloading process consistently failed via both the UI and CLI (using 'pmtx unload'). However, restarting the tape device resolved the problem.

Thanks a lot
