Hello, newbe here.
I've recently installed Proxmox and for the last couple of days it has shut itself dowe automatically at about 14h00 and I've no idea why. I have attached the relevant part of the syslog (too big to put in-line).
In both cases the auth log says:
Code:
Aug 12 14:01:36 pve systemd-logind[840]: Power key pressed.
Aug 12 14:01:36 pve systemd-logind[840]: Powering Off...
Aug 12 14:01:36 pve systemd-logind[840]: System is powering down.
Which is impossible as the system in in the attic.

The server is an HP ML110 G9 so I don't know if the iLO could have forced the shutdown. I am pretty new to the server.

It has been hot here for a few days and the attic will be even hotter. I have now tried installing lm-sensors to monitor the temperatures but today they look fine. I don't know if there are better programs available for monitoring.

I am used to ClearOS which is a derrivative of Centos, so have little Debian experience.

Hi,

I know that HP has in the DL 380 server thermal protection which shuts down the server if a predefined temperature is reached.
But from the log, it is clearly triggered by the HW.

Thanks. for that. I'll have to investigate the iLO to see if it has anything I can see. I suspect the attic temperature was in the 40+ DegC range as it was 35DegC outside at the time and in a lot of sun.

I've gone onto the console to reset the iLO password and I can now see in the logs:

74OS08/12/2020 13:0008/12/2020 13:001Automatic Operating System Shutdown Due to Overheat Aborted
73OS08/12/2020 13:0008/12/2020 13:001Automatic Operating System Shutdown Initiated Due to Overheat Condition
72Environment08/12/2020 13:0008/12/2020 13:001System Overheating (Temperature Sensor 1, Location Ambient, Temperature 42C)

So that explains that one.
