WHAT: Syslog Spam

WHEN: Ten-second intervals of 25 entries. 150 log writes per minute.

SOFTWARE INFO: PVE Version: 4.0-57/cc7c2b53 on Debian Jessie (64bit), Linux 4.2.2-1-pve #1 SMP

HARDWARE INFO: 32 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630 v3 at 2.40GHz (2 Sockets) | 256 GB RAM | 1.4 TB SSD RAID 10 w/ MegaRAID 9271 Cache 1 GB + CacheVault

SCREENSHOT:

NARRATIVE: Using Proxmox VE 4, installed from an OVH template image, syslog is being spammed with irqbalance entries about affinity_hint subset empty conditions. I found a bug report for the issue, indicating that it was fixed over a year ago (for ubuntu dist).

WHAT I'VE TRIED: apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, apt-get install --reinstall irqbalance.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you very much for your time.

Well, I tried posting a link to the bug report, but I guess that's verboten. I supplied a screenshot.... also not allowed.

irqbalance is not install by default on the ISO installation, but it is on the OVH image - you can safely remove it for now to get rid of the syslog warning.
(apt-get remove
irqbalance)

please update this thread with the missing links (now you should be allowed to post links).

Tom,

Jolly good. I've removed irqbalance via apt-get remove per your suggestion, and it's no longer a problem.

The PVE manager was protesting a good deal when I accessed the "syslog" tab after removing the package. In fact, the node resource usages were spiking violently, combined with repeated UI dialogue boxes stating connection error. A reboot of the node cleaned it all up, and we're back to normal. Thanks again for your quick and helpful response.

This is a great product, and I'll be buying a license in the immediate future.

Cheers.
