sysbench fileio speed vs VMWare's

I have been attempting to do some benchmarking against VMWare vs Proxmox (and other Hypervisors).

The biggest difference is when doing a RDM/Passthrough disk test with sysbench fileio. VMWare is near baremetal speeds. With Proxmox I am seeing almost a quarter of the speed. Is there something I am missing or should be aware of to get closer speed?

RDM disk is a PURE Storage FC Storage LUN.

Can be ignored. I started playing with the caching options. Setting up cache to be directsync on the disk was the fix to get comparable speeds to baremetal speeds.
