Syncing User Accounts / SSO inside Unprivileged LXC Possible?

Has anyone tried running sth like ldap client side in unpriviledged lxc containers?
The Ldap Server would be running inside a vm so thats not going to be the issue.
The goal would be to sync the user accounts across multiple containers via ldap / ad.
Should this be possible or would it require privileged mode?
