SWAP - RAM; SWAP or HDD?

Hi,

in beta2 we have the option to set SWAP. What is that actually on the host system. I read somewhere that it is actually RAM. Or is it on the SWAP partition of the host? Or is it just on the HDD?
 
Ouch. That makes SWAP expensive, as it is on the RAM primarily. It would be good if you could define a SWAP partition or a directory for this.
 
No, ist not expensive because it can be swapped out. Anyways, thats the way openvz works currently.

But there are plans to control swap more precisely (2.6.26 cgroup swap controller)
