SVM mode causing issues

Hello, very new to proxmox and looking for a bit of guidance because I've hit a rather strange issue with my setup.

Basically, I've just set up proxmox and I'm trying to get truenas to run under a vm. When I first tried, it failed to start due to a virtual bios issue. Quick Google on how to fix told me I needed to enable it in main bios. Fine, easy to do. Once I rebooted the server after enabling virtual bios, the server just won't connect to the network at all. The ethernet port looks totally dead but if I disable virtual bios it connects again. This also seems to affect the USB input on the server too as these do not respond when SVM is enabled.

System specs:
AMD athlon 2000GE
MSI B450M TOMAHAWK MAX

Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

May you post the output of the ip a command when you enable the SVM from the BIOS? Maybe the interface name got changed??

Hey, so I genuinely can't input any commands when SVM is enabled. The USB just doesn't seem to respond. I'm going to try a total bios reset later today and then try enabling SVM to check there's no weird settings messing with it

Hi,

Can you also post the network config for the Proxmox VE cat /etc/network/interfaces?

I would upgrade the BIOS if it has an update available.

Updated bios and that didn't help unfortunately.

With SVM disabled, here's the output of interfaces

OK some updates

I have got it working somewhat with SVM mode enabled however now, every time I try to start a Vm (truenas in this case) all my network and usb devices stop responding. Up until I hit start vm everything seems to run as normal. Any suggestions on what to change to fix?

Hello,

Thank you for the network configuration!

May you try to set the default setting to your BIOS? Maybe the issue is from the additional options you were enabled before. I would also see if the NIC you are using has an available update.
