I've a new server with few vms on it, But while I want to create a new VM with pre-created raw images it's load rises to 15 or even more,
I've used dmesg but there's no error in it's output,
It's the out put of "smartctl -a /dev/sda" , Is my disk safe?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello

I'm not sure, but if the following values grow , you might have an issue with the disk in general
1 Raw_Read_Error_Rate 0x000f 117 099 006 Pre-fail Always - 121180352
7 Seek_Error_Rate 0x000f 078 060 030 Pre-fail Always - 62861687

cheers
tom

Yes, they are increased from yesterday,
1 Raw_Read_Error_Rate 0x000f 117 099 006 Pre-fail Always - 145987920
7 Seek_Error_Rate 0x000f 078 060 030 Pre-fail Always - 70683084

Do you think it maybe caused by issue in SATA cable?

I maybe a broken SATA cable can cause this or maybe you need to replace the Harddrive sooner or later. I would contact your vendor and ask for warranty replacement - if you have still warranty on that drive.

Hi tincboy,

I wonder if you're having the same (or similar) problem with Seagate drives that I and at least one other person have had. Your symptoms seem to indicate this, but they're not manifesting exactly the same.

I can post an external link to a site with details, or you can search the forum to find folk with a similar issue.

Would you please give me the link you've mentioned?

Would you please give me the link you've mentioned?

This was the exact issue I had:

http://paul.sullivan.za.org/kernel-disables-sata-drive-under-heavy-load-action-0x6-frozen/

Oddly enough (and 100% unrelated) I have just had another ST500DM002-1BD142 in different hardware and country diagnosed as a problem drive in a raid5 array. I'm no longer impartial (;

The problem doesn't always manifest as a complete failure, but each manifestation that I've seen is further evidence that commands to certain Seagate drives take a long time to complete (so perhaps iowait goes up in your case). And in every case once the drive is replaced with an equivalent Hitachi, Western Digital or Samsung all is fine.

I hope this helps you.
