Does anyone know how the issue of support for SCSI controllers is coming along, I seem to recall reading that it was being worked on but can't remember where I heard that from.

Problem is that SCSI controllers are not available within a Proxmox hosted OS. In this case I have an Adaptec ASC29320A with a couple of tape drives attached.

ok, you are talking about pci passthrough. yes this is still missing in Proxmox VE as you need Kernel 2.6.29 for this (we use currently 2.6.24, mainly because this is the newest stable openVZ implementation).
I hope we will have pci passthrough end of this year.
