Sun Cobalt RaQ 550 . Edition of Promox to install

After some considerable distress with having to rely on some website server providers & also some cost that with terms and conditions wasn't refunded . Seeking to try and have established the use of a

Sun Cobalt RaQ 550 website server

PLEASE could an idea of what edition to install be provided . I don't know anything concerning Promox software and what it'll operate with and what it can do .

The server has a USB socket . no CD Drive and no Floppy Drive . It has at the moment 2 60GB Traditional Hard Drives ( total 120GB capacity ) that with last check have blue quartz operating software .

Do I have to check any hardware specifics to know the edition of Promox to install and would a USB Memory Drive Stick be OK or taking drives out and data wire connect to a computer for Promox install .

It'd be great if there was some trouble free . long term timespan with Promox . Is there with this a Cost or Donation and is there a License .

These issues I don't know the answers

No experience, but perhaps you can try a debian usb installer, and then add pve repositories like in
http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_Wheezy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobalt_RaQ I see a unit running debian, so it should be possibile... but I don't know about pve and hw compatibility... on this hardware... there could be some kernel fix and recompilation to do... or not.

omg......that was just an example.....
if you can't install debian on it, unlikely any proxmox "edition", with or without subscription will be usable there.
this, imho.

Relax Marco.. it was a joke
I was just pointing out that you would have to be a little optimistic to expect to run any virtualisation product on something that age.
And yes I realise that you could run containers on it, but at PIII class with probably support for very little RAM, it would seem unlikely to be worth the effort.
