Hello all! Wishing everyone a well and healthy new year.

Before finding Proxmox, I have setup an virtualization server using KVM/Virt-manager. I would like to switch my current setup over to Proxmox VE. Unfortunately I only have one server so I cannot install to another server as a temporary staging point. My main concerns are external attached storage and internal storage, mainly RAID 5 setup. Here is my current setup...

Host or HypervisorUbuntu Server 18.04.5LTS (KVM/Virt-manager)
Internal disk #1main installation
Internal disk #2,3,4RAID Level 5 mdadm (used by Nethserver)
External Disk4 disks - Used for various applications such as backup, VM image storage, etc...

I thought about putting in another hard drive and installing Proxmox, then remove the old Ubuntu server setup. My concerns are setting up my current RAID drives in Proxmox and have my VMs that uses the RAID drives (Nethserver VM) recognize them as they did before. Also, since these RAID drives have data on them, how would Proxmox initialize RAID 5 drives without reformatting or re-partitioning the drives?

Anyways, I'm not sure if any of these questions make sense technically. I would just like suggestions from any of you with experience dealing with KVM/Virt-manager migration to Proxmox.

Thanks in advanced!

If you want to be really sure, you can install Proxmox VE itself in a virtual machine on your current hypervisor and then create VMs on that Proxmox VE virtual machine (nested virtualization).
