I've been looking through and can't seem to find the answer. I have storage on an iscsi device with it shared as a Directory under Storage. I can see it on my original node, I've marked it as shared but with the addition of the second node I can see it listed there but cannot access. I'm guessing it's permissions but not sure where to go to get working.

Hi @cypher25 , welcome to the forum.

Please note that PVE "shared" attribute only tells the PVE that you made that particular storage pool presentable to all nodes in the cluster. The attribute does NOT share the storage.
You have to connect the iSCSI storage to all your nodes, or use PVE iSCSI storage pool. Make sure that the raw LUN is visible to all nodes via basic Linux commands: lsblk, lsscsi.

You can not use Directory storage type for shared iSCSI. Only LVM type is supported.
Take a look at this link for additional information: https://kb.blockbridge.com/technote/proxmox-lvm-shared-storage/

Cheers
