we are running into what looks like a storage bug. I know that we have to supply quite a bit more information then will be in this 1ST post.
yesterday our most important order entry system had these symptoms:
1- could ssh in
2- could not access data files . we use cisam data base and the files would ls but could not be read or written
3- logs and dmesg showed no clues as to an issue.
4- rebooting the kvm did not fix
5- at pve console the kvm was at:
stuck at initramfs [spelling?]
note on console to run
fsck /dev/sda1
then boot and OK.
after boot /var/log/syslog showed no issues or clues from before the time of reboot. it looked strangely normal
I have seen a few other systems stuck during reboot and having the ' need to do fsck ' on console. by the way it is great to have that info ].
the next time this happens I will gather more information . what kind of information would help drill down on this bug or configuration issue?
