I'm setting up Proxmox for routed bridging configuration as described here:
https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Network_Configuration#_routed_configuration
All is fine and well until I decide to reboot or shutdown one of the containers on the bridge. This leads to temporary network interruption for all other containers on this bridge and this should not happen.
Upon investigation it seems that for some reason Proxmox visual network setup tools neither set fixed MAC address for the bridge, nor have any ability to do so. This leads to vmbr device changing MAC each time list of virtual eth devices for containers change, which happens when one of them restarts.
When I've set up random static MAC via /etc/network/interfaces's bridge_hw statement this problem immediately went away.
This seems to be a common pitfall. Is there any particular reason Proxmox does not set up static MACs for bridges by default?
