stability issues

After initial setup its been running great for a week, and then guest machines started to crash, glitch(services go down, strange errors in event log), time out of sync or simply shutdown without any apparent reason. Usually rebooting guest can fix the problem for few days, and if I shutdown whole KVM and start again, it might run few days longer and then again, weird issues start to happen. No strange errors in hosts syslog/dmesg/kern.log. Can't figure out what to do.

I'm running 3 KVMs with Win2k servers, and one VZ with ldap for samba idmaps. Domain controller, Exchange 5.5 and printserver over 150 users. I migrated those machines from VMWare Server 2 which was more reliable on same machine and hardware. Each KVM was setup using virtio network(along with redhats net driver from september) and ide/qcow2.

The host hardware based on intel quad core cpu, 8gigs of non-ecc ram, uses proxmox1.4, including neweset kernel 2.6.24-9 and software raid10.

Any pointers on how to approach the problem would be great.

Thanks,

Pleas try without virtio.

removing virtio will help.

additionally you can think of using raw instead of qcow2 or even block devices instead of disk images (fastest).

What do you recommend to use instead of virtio, e1000? I would like to preserve gigabit connectivity but will sacrifice it over stability...

yes, e1000. but take the latest driver from the intel website (Intel 1000 MT)
