I have an HP branded Intel s3710 which shows "N/A" for the wearout indicator. Smartctl says it has 3% wear; "3 --- Percentage Used Endurance Indicator".

That's not the usual place where to look for that. Maybe the device is too new and you have to wait for an update of smartctl. The version in your PVE is 2,5 years old.

Not sure about the HP rebranded ones, but the stock Intel ones are EoL for 6 years. I would guess they are just too exotic, that no one actually cared about adding them to the smartctl DB. The stock ones got way different SMART attributes. for example one of my stock S3710 200GB:

Code:

@Propaganda do you also have the HPE backplane? Try the solution from here https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/issues-with-hp-p420i-and-smart.79669/
Wrapper-Scripts on the second page
No I don't and the smart status works and shows passed and all the smart vales show correctlywhen double clicking the gui. It is just that wearout is not in the smart attributes area it is in the device statistics area. It doesn’t appear that proxmox is checking this location for wearout information.

I don't know if a script like that would work but I can try later on. It would only work if the promox gui parses this section of the smartctl output. Those scripts just call the device with a different modifier to get the smart attributes outputting. It changes nothing about the device statistics.

I guess I could make something that calls smartctl but intercepts it's output and outputs a fake status. This would trick proxmox into thinking the wearout is in a typical location it can parse.

I was hoping the proxmox team could add a change to the parsing script if it doesn't see a wearout in the typical location they would check the device statistics area. The data is there in smartctl's output just not in the typical location.

This might not be the only drive that displays wearout in this atypical way.
