That's a fair point. @osalj mentioned having Windows on the box previous to it, so using Windows in that environment seems to be an option.at least with Samsung it can be done with an easy to use tool.
The same info might be available via smartctl, but I've not personally used Samsungs enterprise drives before so am not sure.
That kind of info does seem to be shown by smartctl for SAS drives (at least the ones I have), which can be useful.
