So I am planning to move from spinning rust for my boot disk to SSD, at the same time also plan to move upto Proxmox 6.

Is there a recommended process for boot disk change? Searches lead me to most VM backups or use DD for the OS which seems clumsy.

I could start fresh but that too seems like extra work not to mention on of my VMs is pfsense so I would need another router.

do your have dedicated disk for os, and dedicated disk for vms storage ?

If yes, you only need to backup /var/lib/pve-cluster/config.db, reinstall proxmox with same hostname/ips, restore /var/lib/pve-cluster.config, reboot and done :)

Yes, boot disk is separate. Storage is two more in a ZFS mirror. I'll try the above suggestion, once it works then upgrade the OS to 6.
