Is there a way to connect via Spice to PVE host? I understand there's a web GUI but I want access to the Debian OS. Since PVE has a lot o Spice libraries already there, would be a way to do this?

I'm only researching right now but so far, it seems 2 packages could be used for that: xserver-xspice and x11spice. Would PVE support this (or have another mechanism)? If i were to install it myself on the underlying Debian distro, would it cause conflicts? Would it be better to start with a Debian then install PVE?

Thanks!

I love SPICE, but why would you want to have a graphical user interface on a server that has per default no graphical user interface? No current state-of-the-art hypervisor has one, they all have remote administration tools, most of them - like PVE - web based.

If you stick with Debian packages only, no.

Would it be better to start with a Debian then install PVE?

Does not matter, as long as you stick with Debian Stretch repository on PVE 5.x
