Every night we backup our 6 nodes to usbdisks that are attached to each node.
Then during the day all these backups are copied to a 7th node with Rsync for storage.
A few weeks ago we changed from pve-kernel-2.6.24-7-pve: 2.6.24-8 to pve-kernel-2.6.18-6-pve: 2.6.18-15.
The good news is that since then all backups seems to run quicker so backup time has become signifantly shorter.
The bad news is that copying the backupfiles to the 7th node with Rsync takes a lot longer.
The process used to finish round 21:00 every night. It now finished at 02:30 or later...
So it interferes with the actual creation of the backup files on the usbdisks.
I tried different io schedulers on all nodes and that seems to make no difference.
What could have changed with the kernel and pve upgrade that makes this rsync copying process run slower?
All used hardware is the same.
Is there something I can do to speed it up?
Thanks in advance.
