No. http is not suited for accessing email data.

If you login via LDAP, you just can select the language on the login page and a cookie is set that you do not have to do this every time. If you use ticket authentication, you have to logout, change the language ant click the link again (and of course, the cookie is also set).

There is no GUI for changing the time-frame of the "Daily Report". But you can disable the daily report on the GUI (Report Style: no report) and create a cronjob with your custom settings.
