[SOLVED] PVE ISO installer 8.x won't boot on AMD Ryzen 9 5950X

Almost 3 years ago I installed PVE on a ASUS TUF GAMING B550M-E motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X CPU. As this CPU does not have any discrete graphics a NVIDIA GT 1030 card is installed.

I have performed continuously upgrades and the system is now running:

# pveversion
pve-manager/8.4.1/2a5fa54a8503f96d (running kernel: 6.8.12-10-pve)

I got some identical PC's but neither 8.4 nor 8.3 ISO installer will boot. The PC crashes after printing out "Loading drivers:"1747823780658.png
As the numlock key is not responding I'm pretty sure it's a hard crash.

However I can still boot the 7.4 installer which works fine.

So I have two options for a workaround:
  1. Install PVE 7.4 and upgrade to 8.4
  2. Temporarily move NVMe drive to an Intel based PC, install PVE 8.4 and then move the NVMe drive back
Are there any GRUB options I can set that fix this issue?

Will the next release of the PVE ISO installer support AMD Ryzen 9?

Thanks for your answers both of you.

I added "nomodeset vga=normal video=vesa:off" and either the combination or one of them (most likely nomodeset) got it to boot.
I can't escape the : so vesa : off becomes a smiley ;-)
