Is there a way to enable a snmp daemon (net-snmp?) on the proxmox mail gateway for monitoring disk space, processor load, memory, etc? Also, are there any future plans for snmp monitoring of the mail server functions themselves (mail in/out, spam, virus, etc)?

Thanks,

Alex.

Hi Alex,
yes, SNMP its already on our list. Detailed information will be available in one of the next releases.

best regards,
martin

are there any plans for this to be added? if so - is there a time scale?

thanks!

the plan is to use a monitoring software. you can already just install the Zenoss appliance and configure what you need.

Are there still any plans to add "official" snmpd support into Proxmox Mailgateway (not Proxmox VE!) as Martin states 5 years ago?

Regards,
Carsten

we will see it it goes into the next main release (v3.0), but nothing fixed yet.

Release 3 ? wow :)
The release 2 roadmap is already great but my estimation, as an external one, is that we will still have release 2 in at the end of 2012 which is not a problem
but announcing a feature in release 3 (but mentioned five years ago), so one or two years from now... wow lol, if there were a proxmox uservoice or something alike, i have have voted for this instead of something else, especially that this feature is not even sure to be added :)

In the meatime, what is the monitoring software used by most of you ?
I tried Zenoss which is interesting, lot of zen packs and so on but finally won't keep it (no agent approach, heavy behaviour, gui were appealing to me at first but not so great in usability to my mind).
One of my very favorite is PRTG, very simple and intuitive, works great, very polished product and companion products, great gui... but it's commercial as is Whatup Gold.
Zabbix is also on my list, should have been my next evaluation but i found Icinga which is now what attract me the most.
There are also Pandora, Groundwork and other but i'm not a fan of limited community free product on one side and the enterprise commercial on the other side, i prefer the approach either free or commercial having clear exposition without things which bother in the middle.
I look for something bringing reactive gui, mobile app, jmx support, agent approach but still have good agent-less capabilities, simple & intuitive, easy updating so not needing a science degree...

And you ?
