How do you keep FS consistency when snapshotting a live VM (on LVM)?

How do you keep FS consistency when snapshotting a live VM (on LVM)?

We trust on FS journals.

What I meant was, do you take a snapshot at once (where after the instance the snapshot is taken, you don't take any FS changes. Like an LVM snapshot) or is the method more similar to dd where FS changes keep going on when you are backing up?

vzdump works with LVM snapshots.
