Hi
I'm new with Proxmox virtual environment trying to backup to an SMB-Share which is on a machine in a different LAN.
When I connect to the SMB-share using my Mac or Windows-Laptop, everything works fine So I don't think it is a firewall issue outside of Proxmox.
There are no firewall rules in Proxmox. The firewall checkbox on the network devices are turned off.

My goal is to add an SMB storage for later backups. However, It won't show any share, although - as mentioned above - when connecting via the Mac or Windows OS only, they show up and work fine. SMB 3 is activated on the target machine.

I would appreciate any help! Thank you!

Hey,

what do you mean with "in a different LAN"? Is the laptop on the same network as PVE is?

The backup device is connected via VPN in a network 10.xxxxx/24.
The VMs are currently in 192.168.xxxxxxxx/24

Do you have routing setup between the two networks? Or, does the PVE host have an IP on both?

So the PVE host can ping the server that hosts the SMB share?

Thank you for asking the right questions! There seems to be an issue with the routing. I will check later on today.
