Hello,
i've a 3 node cluster with 3 networks :
LAN / Ring0 / Storage

The Storage network is used for a NFS storage dedicated to backup
On switch (HP) i reserved a "closed" VLAN with 4 ports, one for each node and one for NAS

I'm experiencing very slow performances : about 8/MBs
No Jumbo frame
The second nas interface is connected to LAN for management
650gb backup takes about 15h to complete

Thanks for any idea

Alessio

Hi Menk, thanks for reply

it's a try i will do
but, for security i preferr not to use smb protocol

by the way, i think i've made some fault, i've to study more

OK, with SMB/CIFS better performances but non costant in data transfer it goes from 40 MB/S to 0M/Bs
Attacched the Seagate performance monitor

Hello Menk,
The target is a Seagate NAS OS dual core 1,2Ghz 512Gb ram (a dirty s**t 26Mb/s )
Tomorrow i put freenas on my old server (xeon)
i'll use the nas for disaster recovery over rsync

I think your Nas can be the bottleneck....
A better Nas (dyi can a good choice) can give more performance.
For nfs try to mount with async option...
Give us your feedback

Update:
Today i build i backup machine
xeon 8core
24gb ram
WD red 2TB
freenas
    • xxx : nfs
    • yyy : cifs
Results :
  • nfs : about 25 MB/s
  • cifs : write 512 Mb at 100 Mbs, then wait some time, the restart with high speed copy (up and down, up an down )
I think that now is to investigate more

any idea ?

follow the backup log (in progress)
