All - I'm trying to edit the grub boot lines to get single user mode to take - (I'm trying to do append init=/bin/bash single boot to the grub kernel line in order to reset the root password - and no matter what I try - it seems to boot to runlevel 2. (It's as if I didn't even pass init=... or the single.)
Is there some piece of special sauce I'm missing?
Can I boot the installer CD to single user mode to try and fix? (Also thinking about maybe installing an alternate hard disk and installing proxmox to that and then shimming it that way - this was the first server box I built and I used an intel embedded fake raid (don't ask - I am regretting this right now) as root drive, and then a sata as data.
(Feeling pretty dumb right now - i'm sure it willl pass.)
