Hi

should all the ISO images be present in the local drive even after create VM and installed fully? i recently deleted truenas iso after created and was using truenas too.

once deleted iso image thinking can save space and started it ...it failed to start saying no iso found.

so should keep all iso images permanently in the drive?

Probably because you did not set the virtual CDROM to "Do not use any media". If you select an ISO for the virtual optical drive and that ISO cannot be read (because you deleted it), it will fail to start the VM.

No, but you should not have VMs that refer to non-existing ISOs. Fix your VM configurations when you delete ISOs, or the other way around: only remove ISO that are not being used (in the configuration of) VMs.

I don't understand the question. I can only repeat my attempt to explain the problem:
Your VMs have virtual optical drives. (yes?) They are virtually "loaded" with an ISO. (yes?) If the ISO does not exist then the VM won't start.
Before you remove the ISO, check if any VMs have optical drives with that ISO. Virtually "unload" the ISO (double-click and select "Do not use any media") before deleting the ISO. Do not delete the ISO when VMs are still using it.

I always unload the ISO right after I finished installing my guestOS + guest agent. A good practice so you don't run into this problem in the first place and you don't need to keep track of ISOs.
