share hostfolder to kvm guest

Why not export an nfs share from your proxmox server and mount it on the different kvm's?

...and don't even think about assigning the same physical to different os'es at the same time!!!

Ok, I changed the way to do it. I have now all my data into the guests and dont need to share a folder on the host. All is working fine but when I backup a guest with all my data and somthing went wrong I cannot reach my data because they are in the raw-image. How can I reach my data on the raw-image ?

The Fileserver looks like:

[root@sme7kvm ~]# fdisk -lu

Platte /dev/sda: 536.8 GByte, 536870912000 Byte
255 Köpfe, 63 Sektoren/Spuren, 65270 Zylinder, total 1048576000 sectors

Hi, I am sorry for the confusion, I finally solved my problem in that way:

I added just that line to my vmid.conf

scsi1: /dev/sdc

Now the guest is able to reach a physical disk and backup data on it. The files are easy readable on every (ext3) system.

Thanks for your help

Best

Not sure if you are using backups on this VM, but beware!

If you have an extra disk added in this way then the backup will attempt to make a copy of all disks detailed in the vmid.conf file.

I found this out to my dismay when a backup attempted to make a copy of a 1TB iSCSI disk I had added.

You will need to comment out the disks you do not want included in the backup. Only after you have started the VM, of course.

This can get annoying if you restart the VM a lot... hopefully this will be address in 2.0?
