Setting up spice

I can't seem to get a spice connection to any machines on proxmox. I have configured the display hardware as spice, and then I choose to connect via spice the program downloads a file, and using that with virt manager the connection times out.

I was playing around with vnc and found commands that I could issue under the monitor settings to change ports and passwords. I cant seem to find anything specific to spice about how to setup the ports and passwords.

Shouldn't the file proxmox gives me to use spice with work? I am on the local network with proxmox when trying to connect.

please post the output of `pveversion -v`. - which version of virt-viewer/manger are you using?
There was a bug recently with the spice-proxy, which was fixed:

hi,
as written in the bugreport - the bug should be fixed with
libpve-http-server-perl - 2.0-10.

please upgrade to the latest version - it is, by now, available in all our repositories.
