Hey guys! Take a look please with this situation, my first time updating this server i got one crash. And now, every time the server reboots when its updating the linux packages:

And the syslog shows:

And the local terminal:

My server is a Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650L with the machinist x99 motherboard with EFI boot mode.
I have other equal server with same cpu/mother but running as legacy bios mode. This server works fine...

Any ideas?

Hi,

Have you the same issue if you try to do this directly on the server (the first screen seems to be the web console) ?

Best regards,

my first time updating this server
 • Is it a fresh setup?
 • ...or has it run for some time without problems (and without updates)?
Which PVE version is installed? (pveversion -v please, embedded in
-
-tags.)

For any memory related problems:
 • check the BIOS for error messages
 • check if the BIOS is uptodate - and update if not ;-)
 • let "memtest86+" run for some time - at least one night
Which amount of RAM is installed? A Xeon allows for ECC, do you have that?

What filesystem is used? Any chance for a corrupt filesystem? ZFS?

What kind of disks? HDD? SSD? NVme? Look at the SMART status for "Health" and for "Wear Leveling" or any other error. Run a "long selftest".

...and so on. We need a structured FAQ for this...

Hello,
Since yesterday's update, I've been having the same problem: the PVE server keeps restarting after all containers and VMs have booted up. I've now disabled the autostart option for the VMs and noticed that the system seems to remain stable. Therefore, I suspect a problem with one of the VMs.

Just as I was writing this, the reboot started. So removing the autostarts only slowed the problem down...

UPDATES:
I try to run one new fresh installation on this server with proxmox 9 and i get the same erros!
So, i tried to do new install with CSM ON (legacy bios) and now the reboots stopped. I can update the server normally...
This bug is something related with UEFI bios on this motherboard, but i need this server running on tomorrow, so i dnt have time to investigate more.

Thanks for all help guys!
