Hello,

I am preparing technical specifications for the purchase of a new core server to work with Proxmox. Wiki says the hardware compatible is, in general, the hardware compatible with RHEL 6, but until I know Proxmox uses Debian.

Do you think I should ask for the hardware has available drivers for Debian? Or the drivers for RHEL 6 will work properly in Debian?

Maybe I'm asking the obvious...

Thank you

Hardware support is provided by kernel (and firmware), Proxmox uses RHEL6 kernel, so you have'nt to refer to Debian.Luca

Proxmox uses a kernel derived from RHEL6 really stable (usually old) kernel. That means much in new hardware compatibility, too.
New kernels (3.10) are coming, currently in testing and still missing some feature (openvz) but keep that in mind.
But PVE devs could add (remove?) some hw support.

If you need software to manage that hardware, though, you have to look for debian packages... or learn tricks (alien) and prepare to some adaptation...
