Hello everyone,

My Proxmox server occasionally freezes without any apparent reason. Recently, I’ve started seeing this console error after a freeze:

Uhhuh. NMI received for unknown reason 2D on CPU 1.
Dazed and confused, but trying to continue

Has anyone experienced this type of issue? I’m unsure what could be causing it or how to resolve it.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

Have you already found a solution to this problem? If not, NMIs (non-maskable interrupts) are CPU-related and other posts have suggested [0], that this could be caused by specific power saving modes. Have you changed the power savings in the BIOS? Does disabling the C-states and/or enabling performance mode in the BIOS as described in [0] mitigate the problem?

Hi!

In the BIOS, I hadn't made any changes from the beginning. I have now checked them and noticed that the "C6" mode option was enabled. I have now disabled it. The "Core Performance Boost" option has always been set to "Auto." I left it as is because the only other option is to disable it. So, there is no option to set this mode to ON, only "Auto," as mentioned earlier.

Let's see if the issue occurs again. Thanks so far!
