I had to restart the installation of Proxmox yesterday, because our network has no fixed IPs, but only via DHCP (which is not optimal, but not the topic here). I therefore restarted to the pre-installed Windows to find out the IP that the DHCP sever has assigned to the Mac address. However, after restarting the Proxmox installer, I forgot to select the correct port, so I had to manually edit the network setting file later.
Which would be a nice improvement:
- In the network port selection combo box, a port is automatically selected where a LAN cable is connected. (I'm not sure whether the default port was the IPMI port or an virtual port)
- When you click Next, a short network check where you get a warning if something doesn't work, so you can possibly go back again
- If you change the LAN port, the green dot of the active marker should change.
