Hi

I have tried proxmox and want to change from esxi because more hardware support and it seems to be faster. It is just a @home server, but I have a lot of disks which have to be connected. So could you maybe help me to find a "just Sata2 extension card" or Sata2 raid controller for PCI-e X1 and support for two or more disks? The board only supports pci-eX1 or two PCI slots. I want to connect first time two disks for proxmox an four disks for data. Raid would be a nice to have option.

RocketRaid 2300 was my favorite but it seems to be a software or fake raid controller and seems not to be supported. I don´t want to pay more than 250$ for one card.

Thank you very much

Hi tom,

thank you for your reply. Sorry, I didn't express myself very well, i don´t want to connect 6 drives to one controller card, just 4. Maybe here gives an solution? It could also be a non raid card. The Adaptec 2405 is sadly a PCIE x8 card and i only have PCIE x1.

Thank you very much

sorry, I missed that. so I have no recommendation for the card, but if you go for a new mainboard look on intel entry level server boards, offering good features for acceptable prices.

Hi tom,

I don´t know if that would be a option to buy a new mainboard. Will the software raidcontroller see the hdd´s without any raid functionality? I don´t really need raidfunctionality but i need more sata ports.

Thank you

you can configure the sata ports in the main board bios (fake raid or not)

Hi tom, i know that I can use the internal sata ports, but i need more :)
I have looked for a new AM3 Mainboard, but they are very expensive oder have no pcie x4 oder x8 connectors. I will have a look, maybe I will find a sata card with raid and proxmox support. That would be great...

thank you very much
