On a 3-node PVE cluster, SAS hard drives report type: unknown in
/nodes/{node}/disks/list, even though smartctl -i clearly reports
Rotation Rate: 10000 rpm. SAS SSDs reporting Solid State Device are
classified correctly as ssd. The disk type is therefore unreliable
for SAS HDDs.

Expected: type should be hdd.
Actual: type is unknown.

smartctl -i /dev/sdj:

Vendor: SEAGATE
Product: ST1200MM0088
Revision: TT31
Compliance: SPC-4
User Capacity: 1,200,243,695,616 bytes [1.20 TB]
Rotation Rate: 10000 rpm
Form Factor: 2.5 inches
Transport protocol: SAS (SPL-4)

pvesh get /nodes/PVE-KRC-01/disks/list:

/dev/sdj ST1200MM0088 5000c5008f347a3b OK unknown

Reproduces on 7x ST1200MM0088 and 2x X422_HCOBE600A10 per node,
across all 3 nodes. The 7x PX05SVQ192B SAS SSDs are correctly
reported as ssd.
