samba server migration from windows server to turnkey Linux file share

this is my 1st post on this form. thanks for any help you can give. we had an old windows machine running a file share. I move the files onto an lxc container running turnkey Linux file server. on the windows box we could use a vpn running on a ubiqiti dream machine pro to remotly access the files. Now that the files are on the proxmox server i cant git them from the vpn it is on l2tp. this is the 1st time iv used udm pro vpn on my home lab i use tail scale. would like to keep the setup easy for the people that need to use it. so would love to have someone steer me in the right direction. please and thank you.
