Running Virtual Sophos XG – New WAN IP on Every Reboot using Proxmox

Hello everyone,

I am running Sophos XG as a virtual machine on Proxmox and have encountered an issue where my WAN IP changes after every reboot. No issues if running without Proxmox.

I contacted my ISP, and they confirmed that the IP change is triggered by a new DHCP request coming from the client side. This behavior seems unique to my Proxmox setup with Sophos XG, so I’m wondering if there is anything on the virtualization side that could be causing this.

Is there any setting in Proxmox (such as MAC address handling, bridge configuration, or DHCP request behavior) that could be influencing the way the WAN interface requests an IP?

Any guidance or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

I also discussed this on the Sophos forums, but nothing indicates that the firewall itself is causing the issue.

Thanks!

Best regards,
