Hi,

We wish to run SAP HANA and couple of other VMs on Proxmox environment in PRODUCTION. SAP HANA will require 512 GB to 1TB RAM to operate. Initially we wish to go with 3-node architecture with Ceph configured as a storage backend.

My questions are as follow:

1) Will Proxmox support a VM with 512GB to 1TB RAM? Do I require anything special to run SAP HANA on proxmox?
2) Is it possible to create a separate CEPH pool with the OSDs, those have been installed on SSDs only. And another CEPH pool with the OSDs installed on the hard disk drives only. We want our SAP vm to be run on SSD pool. If this is achievable, please let me know how?

Hi,
please note that Running a HANA Instance on Proxmox is not supported by SAP and as such you might face problems when you have an open ticket with SAP.
You should have a way to migrate the VM to a supported Hypervisor in that case.

If you are gonna run dev or test system it's totally fine. But if you are gonna run production system, it does not certificate by SAP.

I installed Suse with regular Sap NW 7.5 with Hana Db and in another system S4HANA 1909 on Redhat Linux without any issue. It works perfectly.

But as i said if you install production system and if you get any issue SAP will not provide any information because it's not certified.

But just for test purpose, you can do whatever you want :)
