running proxmox inside a proxmox VM?

I'm new to proxmox, always used Xenserver, but with the 7.3 limitations I decided to move away. I have a running Xenserver cluster, and before I migrate all over, I want to familiarize myself a bit with proxmox, how to set up a cluster, Ceph setup etc.
It may be an obvious answer to most of you, but I wondered if it is possible to run a Proxmox cluster all consisting of Proxmox servers that run as VMs on a single Proxmox server, (and to have VMs inside a VM)? I would like to try running a cluster this way, actually I was thinking to have this setup more or less permanently available as well to test cluster upgrades. I assume it will work, I will actually try it the moment my new hardware arrives, but if you guys could confirm or share pitfalls it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Av

Nevermind, doing the install I ran into the appropriate terminology (nested KVM), and managed to get it to work. Running a HA/Ceph cluster with 3 VMs now, and having VMs in the that indeed are HA. Pretty cool.

hello, i am trying to do the same thing that you did. i wanted to ask, how do you set the network configuration for each proxmox vm?

We use nested virtualization for development here, by the way.

It should be sufficient to have a single bridge on the host. The PVE reference documentation shows such a default configuration. You can then just repeat this for the nested hosts.
