Hi there,

from it's papers I'm in love with Proxmox. After some errors i got it installed, but never up and running.

You suggest 8 gb or even more ram - I tried -for home use testing- on an old AMD Sempron with 3 gb of ram. Will this succeed (for testing, not for commercial seamless use ;) )or should I upgrade my hardware?

Best wishes!
A.

hi,

http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Installation#System_requirements
3gb is not much to host virtual vm, but should boot, minimum requirements are far lower, and for home testing should work

are you sure amd sempron has required virtualization extensions?
without those, you only have openvz (ct) creation capbilities
http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Container_and_Full_Virtualization

see here
http://sites.amd.com/us/business/it-solutions/virtualization/Pages/client-side-virtualization.aspx

and the footnote that says
<< all but 65 nm Sempron chips are enabled with AMD-V >>

You're so right, the sempron 3200+ is 90nm built.

So I better don't worry about the ram, the cpu needs an update itself ;)

Tried yesterday several times, the machine doesn't even boot up.

Thanks man!
