Does anyone have a script they use to rotate backups before I go and reinvent the wheel.

Ah, OK, I thought I'd read somewhere that if you reached the limit, it just did not do any further backups.

[edit]
Just checking and the max number is a per directory setting. Unless you create a new directory for each container, if you do not backup everything, then you could lose the backup of a specific container.

For instance, I have a container for mosquito Broker - there is no point regularly backing this up, it just needs a backup if the configuration is changed. A backup for the node-red container needs backing up regularly as the configuration changes regularly.

I don't think that is true. The number of backups is per VM/CT in that directory. If Max backups is 4 and VM 101 has 4 but 102 has 1 only 101 will be rotated.

IOW it works like you would expect.

Having let it run, you are correct. It is what I would hope the backup system would do, but that isn't really how it is described. "Max Backups per VM" would be an improvement I'd suggest.

Thanks for your help.
